La Jaiba Loca

The Jaiba Loca ("Crazy Crab" in Mexican Spanish) is a casual seafood restaurant in Costa Azul. It is on a corner of Magallanes (the street to the right of the Convention Center as you look at it), about three blocks off the Costera Alemán. Here you can order clams, shrimp, crab (of course), and many other seafood dishes. Some restaurant critics say the Jaiba Loca has the tastiest and freshest seafood in town. It is a favorite of locals and knowledgeable visitors alike. The Shrimp Rosaura (bathed in a mango sauce) is a specialty dish, as are the signature stuffed crabs. Most of the main dishes on the menu are priced at between $150 and $200 pesos. Considering the quality and taste, it is a bargain. When you go there, be prepared to wait a little while for a table – the place is very popular and is almost always crowded.
