The Tortuga Acapulco is a three-star accommodation directly across the Costera Alemán from the many dance clubs and bars of Condesa Beach in Acapulco’s Golden Zone. Visitors come to the Tortuga Acapulco because of the large and clean rooms and the attentive service, and they are willing to overlook the signs of age in the property. The long, narrow entrance lobby has a well-known piano bar at the entrance (now closed), followed by a garden designed to mimic the sea floor, with a sculpture of a sea tortoise giving a ride to a child. Built in 1971 and remodeled in 1996, the Tortuga Acapulco offers 230 rooms and 22 junior suites on seven floors.

Services & Amenities: 

The Tortuga Acapulco has a concierge desk for all activities and reservations, a tour desk, a lobby gift and sundries shop; a laundry, and 24-hour medical attention, if required. Arrangements can be made for in-room child-care. Internet access is available. (fee applies). Parking is free.

Rooms: 

Corner rooms and those along the front are equipped with king-size beds. The others have two double beds. All rooms and suites offer air conditioning, in-room safes, satellite color television, telephone, marble floors, and a private terrace or balcony. Many have a full- or partial-view of the ocean. Rooms are spacious and sparsely furnished, but bright and comfortable. (Room numbers ending in “20” or “21” have frontal ocean views, but are closest also to the noise of the Costera and the dance clubs. Of the rooms on the side of the Tortuga Acapulco, those with numbers ending in “17,” “18,” “23” and “25” have a good view of the ocean from their balconies.

Dining & Drinks: 

El Nopal is located near the entrance to the Tortuga Acapulco, offering a buffet and full menu, and specializing in traditional Mexican cuisine, as well as quick bites, like tacos, burgers and sandwiches. At Los Portales, guests can enjoy a breakfast buffet or choose from the menu. The restaurant offers international dishes. The adjoining Los Portales Bar is a friendly location for a quick drink or an extended conversation with friends. The Bikini Bar is at the pool, and offers a swim-up service. Café Pacífico is the Tortuga Acapulco’s popular piano bar by the hotel entrance, frequented by locals and visitors alike. The ambiance is described as "Bohemian," and the mood, romantic.

Activities: 

On the premises, the large pool is the center of most activity during the day, and the Café Pacífico Piano Bar is an active venue at nighttime. Nearby a guest can find plenty of shopping alternatives, including open-air booths with work by native artisans, a large grocery and general shopping complex, and fashionable shopping malls. The Tortuga Acapulco is located right in the middle of many of Acapulco's most popular dance clubs and bars, and it is convenient to several excellent restaurants for dining out. On Condesa Beach, guests of the Tortuga Acapulco can arrange for jet-skis, banana rides and many other water sports. The Tortuga Acapulco also has made an arrangement for its guests with Pepe's Club, a beach club in Puerto Marques, known for its excellent seafood cuisine, fresh from the ocean. There it is possible to arrange for windsurfing and sailing. The concierge can arrange for guests to take tours of different kinds, including trips to the CICI Water Park for the kids and the historic San Diego Fort.

Health & Beauty: 

Past the pool and down a few steps is a small fitness center for cardio-vascular exercise and weight training.

Meetings & Conventions: 

The facilities of the Tortuga Acapulco include four meeting rooms for special events and business meetings. The concierge desk can support meeting hosts with planning assistance, including any necessary equipment, catering, and set-up.

Pools: 

Beyond the lobby are and an area of landscaping, the pool invites guests to swim, sunbathe and enjoy the swim-up bar, which was invented in Acapulco.
