Locally, "mariscos" in the broad sense means "any kind of fish and shellfish," and the family that operates Mariscos Pipo takes the "any kind" aspect very seriously. Virtually all types of seafood are available. The downtown location is decorated with photos of old Acapulco, but the theme is clearly maritime. Both locations sport a décor of fishing nets, shells and rustic tables and chairs. The seafood tray combinations are popular, as they provide a taste of all kinds of shell fish -- crab, prawns, clams and lobster or crayfish. Also, guests can enjoy time-honored, traditional dishes like ceviche, octopus, and baby shark quesadillas. There is an English-language version of the menu. One house specialty is the red snapper prepared in the style of Veracruz, with onion and tomato, peppers and olives. Patrons can also select any fish and ask that it be prepared as they wish. A popular option is to ask for the fish to be broiled and served with Pipo's own garlic butter sauce.
