[Who is Fat Bastard?]

After a rather dry exhibition opening, we were near the Zocalo and desperately needed some liquid and solid refreshment. We ended up in Tacos & Beer.

After ducking round behind the McDonalds style children’s play area, which for some extraordinary reason dominates the whole restaurant, a large deck area appeared. The usual white plastic tables were there (it is a taqueria after all) but we found it really difficult to find a comfortable place to sit. Beware… do NOT go over to the left hand side (as you look out to sea) It smells very strongly of sewage and somehow the titty (Sorry spell check, “titty” is a word) bar across the road made the smell even more disagreeable. Well… we eventually found a table at the water’s edge without any offending odours; but the music was bad (a subjective point of view, I know) and loud (we had things to discuss). They did turn down the volume but the quality remained the same.

At last we could order. A cheerful and tolerant, and I am not being sarcastic, waiter took our orders for the usual Tacos al pastor, Gringas (al pastor with steak), quesadillas which were all fine but just lacked a little something (flavour?). At $100.00 pesos per head, it seemed a little expensive for tacos and we only had a couple of beers each.

So, if you are happy to eat flavour free, over priced tacos in the company of shrieking children, in an over lit agricultural barn, this is the place for you. It’s location above the waves is pretty, but …

Of all the 1000's of places to eat in Acapulco why we would choose this place for dinner is beyond me ( it was a group & a democratic vote = too hot & tired to go elsewhere?) The food was gross & overlit barn is an understatement - it was mexican fast food - overly greasy - dog food. Not economical either. Want a good mexican fresh fast meal? Go to Zorrito's across & down the street on the Condesa.
