Playas Caleta & Caletilla Acapulco

Playas Caleta & Caletilla

Playa Caleta
Playa Caleta and Caletilla are also personal favorites. Really the are two a contiguous beach separated by Magico Mundo Marino aquarium. These beaches are a great place to chill and listen to mexican guitar, drink a cerveza, get a message, and swim in the calm waters. This was the original place to be back in the days when Acapulco was just a glorified fishing village recently discovered by Hollywood's rich and famous. It's a relatively small beach that fills up with locals, Mexican tourists, with a smattering of Europeans, Canadians, and Americans. This is not the beach where to beautiful people go for sure, but its got loads of local color. The nearby hotels, once the pride of Acapulco, but  these days cater more to Mexican budget tourists, though there are a couple diamonds in the rough.  A good beach as well as a good cultural experience.

Caleta and Caletilla Beach, my favourite.
Since the first time I came to Acapulco I was introduced to Caleta beach by my good friend Max. he also introduced me to the Beach Boys like Tony and Nachos. Now every time we come to Acapulco we spend many days on the small secluded beach. It is on of the best places to swim, snorkel and take a scuba dive.

The area has much to offer for those seeking a sampling of traditional Mexico. Here you can relax and enjoy calm ocean waters as it is protected by Roqueta Island.

It is also a place you can see the fisherman coming in at the end of the day, fishermen draw their boats up on the beach at Caleta and sell from their day's catch. This year we will be staying at the pride of Acapulco the once Caleta Hotel, now called the
Grand Meigas Acapulco.
