Acapulco Bars & Dance Clubs

El Alebrije

I've heard that El Alebije (pronounced El-Ah-Lay-Bree-Hey) has been calling itself the biggest club in Latin America. I don't think it's even the biggest club in Acapulco, much less all of Latin America, but then again maybe if you were to fill it with water and then empty the water into a gigantic graduated cylinder to get the total cubic liters, ok maybe the club could claim to have more cubic liters of space than any club in Latin America because it does have a high ceiling.

The layout of the club is a bit odd in my opinion and not conducive to uninhibited mingling. When you enter through the palatial front doors and walk toward the dance floor, there is a small elevated dance floor next to stairs leading to a sunken space that is the center of the action with space for dancing, drinking, or hovering around the bar. Both sides are lined with narrow tables going up the sides. When you're on the floor it almost feels like you're in a small amphitheater and you're on center stage. The tables going up the sides are sort of segregated from the rest of the bar and there is no way to causally make your way by and start up a conversion with some fine lady/guy sitting up in row three say without being way too obvious that you're on an expedition as you climb over/bump into people on the way up.

El Alebrije plays modern English/Spanish rock and has a much younger and less upscale crowd than Palladium. It does get pretty lively and it's not a bad night out all things considered. No snobby doorman situation which is always a big plus. Certainly beats most U.S. clubs, but not most Acapulco clubs.

I say the club is ok, but you can do better in Acapulco if you only have a week or two. It really looks best from the street.

great fun once it gets going, typically nice people, but mostly younger kids, and don't get too smashed cause they will throw u out ..........................trust me

i thought that the club El Alebrije was amazing. It was so much fun and they really had alot of great people and MUSIC! I Went with friends during spring break and we had the time of our life at night at this club. it was great
