To me this place looks like an Acapulco Red Roof Inn, but I've hear from several people its nice on the inside. I'm not sure I believe it though. I've never seen what I would call a truly nice motel and this place is exactly that - a glorified motel despite the glorious photo shown here (which I didn't take myself). It has a good location for sure. Its rooms have TV, air conditioning, mini-bar and a couple have a small balcony. It's just two floors, but manages 121 rooms.
It also has a pair of swimming pools and a restaurant offering a variety of options. One thing to keep in mind is that this hotel has neither a view of the ocean nor is it situated on the beach, but is located the non-beach side of the busy Costera.
It was built in 1964 on a stretch of land that today is right in the center of things. Maybe that's why it's remained popular. I always hear, "oh, it's right past Bali Hai..." I do seem to see the ugly Bali-Hai sign almost everyday. Maybe one day I'll stay there and write a serious review of the place...nah. If you drive in and can't find a hotel with parking, it does have good parking.
