Los Flamingos

The Flamingo is an Acapulco classic if there ever was one. It was once the hangout of the Hollywood elite and was even owned at one time by Johnny Weissmuller (the original Tarzan) and John Wayne (who needs no introduction). The likes of Roy Rogers, Errol Flynn, Red Skelton, and Cary Grant used to hang out here. John Wayne's concierge, Adolfo Santiago bought the place in 1960.
Today this small 46 room hotel still boasts the same great views and cool breezes as it did back inits heyday. Hotel Los Flamingos is located high on a cliffs overlooking the ocean and I really think these are some of the best views in the entire city. It features a restaurant, pool, laundry service, transportation to downtown and bar which is famous for its
coco loco tequila drinks served up in a green coconut. It has live music, but evertime I've been there, it's been on the quiet side... which is sort of nice actually.
Its rooms are clean, but sparsely decorated and not luxurious. Don't expect satellite TV or hot tubs. Still, this is a cool place to be and part of both Acapulco and Hollywood history (and it's really affordable).
