El Tropicano is a simple, quiet hotel with 137 rooms on 2
floors. It was built in 1966 in what has become one of Acapulco's hottest
locations as numerous top bars and restaurants have since sprung up around it.
Though not on the beach itself it's a short walk to nearby Playa Icacos. The
hotel facilities include balconies with view of the some pretty flower-filled
gardens, a restaurant (El Corral) and a bar (La Diligencia) as well as two
pools. The decor is decent and there is a bit of street noise. All rooms are
air-conditioned and come with cable TV. This is a good place for those who want
to be close to the action.
