Hard Rock Cafe Acapulco

Hard Rock Cafe Acapulco

Hard Rock Cafe
This extension of the omnipresent Hard Rock Cafe franchise opened in 1989. It has all the classic trappings of a Hard Rock Cafe anywhere with walls plastered with musical memorabilia from the likes of Pete Townsend and Peter Frampton. We were seated so close to Cat Stevens' dashiki we could smell it.

The food is great (if you like American food which I do) and it’s the only place in town one can get a real chicken fried steak. I think Hard Rock Cafe and Walmart are about the closest one can get to the States while in Acapulco.

While I really enjoy the place, it does have a couple drawbacks. The live music generally sucks. While the crowd is chanting “otro, otro” I seem to always find myself chanting “no más, no más”.

I have to say I like my music loud, and sometimes hard, but not when I’m trying to have a conversation with someone. The music is so loud that table conversation is comprised mainly of “what?” “what was that?” "what?” and “can you say that again, I can’t hear #%$?”

Needless to say, this is not the place to go for a first date if you’re hoping to win over your companion with your wry whit. That said, Hard Rock Café remains pure Americana and I give it a loud thumbs up.

They have a souvenir shop for those of you that can’t leave town without a Hard Rock Cafe Acapulco shirt to prove you were here.
