We just returned from Acapulco, where we traded our timeshare (slopeside in Vail in the middle of ski season) for a week at Aladinos. DEFINITELY not a fair trade! This was by far the worst place we have ever stayed. The location is lousy - you can't even see the ocean or the bay, and you have to walk uphill through a depressed and dirty side road to get there from the main street. We didn't dare walk there after dark. No hot water in the kitchen or 1 of the bathrooms. Thank goodness we had 2 bathrooms or we would have taken cold showers. The kitchen was very, very basic and the utensils were yard sale rejects. No coffee maker. The hardest bed we have ever slept on anywhere made it impossible to get a good night sleep the whole week. And the view from our balcony was horrible - the place was surrounded by filthy buildings that looked like trash heaps. The hotel pools were tiny and insufficient for the number of guests there - and the place was practically deserted. There were 8 chairs total by the small pool for the condo building. (The main building, pictured above, is a hotel only. The condos are in a smaller building.) No resort amenities at all besides the pool and a single restaurant.
But what the place lacked in ambience it made up for in the friendliness of the staff. In particular, our personal host, Luis, was exceptional. When we complained about having no coffee maker, he brought his from home and loaned it to us for the week. He tried to loan us his car, too, for a trip to the grocery, but we declined. Then he offered to drive us. The restaurant, though small with a very limited menu, was reasonably priced and the food was good.
Be sure to learn a few words of Spanish before you go. Luis appeared to be the only person on staff who spoke more than two words of English. But if you have any choice at all, stay somewhere else. |

No estoy de acuerdo en el pago anual por que se nos dijo que hasta que lo ocuparamos y que tambien nadamas nos hablaron de las mensualidades que nos dijeron que ibamos a pagar 1465m/n y nos estan cobrando 1685 por que tanta diferencia de lo que nos platicaron a lo que nos estan cobrando de que se trata |
