Italian Cuisine in Acapulco

Forza Italia Ristorante

Approved Restaurant

Forza Italia is a personal favorite.  Not only becuase the food and ambiance are great, or becuase the owner, Franco, is a freind of mine, but becasue Forza Italia is the real deal.  It serves some seriously delicious, authentic Italian food, has a good wine selection, and you'll hear Italian spoken as frequently as Spanish.

This is real Italian food in the heart of Acapulco and gets a big Real Acapulco thumbs up.

Located across from the Calinda Beach Hotel in the Golden Zone a few doors away from the big Office Max.

FAT BASTARD’S GUIDE TO ACAPULCO RESTAURANTS

[Who is Fat Bastard?]

I find it hard to be objective about Forza Italia, but then a restaurant critic is a subjective beast at the best of times. I have eaten there at least 30 times and it is always the restaurant of choice when I am after something good without having to hit the ATM. So if that’s not a recommendation in itself you might as well stop reading my reviews.

The food is as close to the genuine thing as you can get in Mexico, the pasta always perfectly cooked and the sauces are tasty. Try the Fettuccini Carbonara, always prepared to order and a treat. I am also partial to their pizzas, again, as they should be, prepared to order and you can invent your own from a long list of ingredients. The house wine is drinkable and also inexpensive.

I think the worst pizza I ever ate was in Venice (not the one in California), but some of the most delicious food in the world is to be found in the little trattorias tucked away in the villages of Tuscany.

Franco, the boss, is an effusive and attentive host. He can be abrasive and intolerant but that is usually due to the ugly behaviour of clients.

Last night it was very quiet when I arrived (admittedly it was late) but it was half full by closing time (strictly 11.00pm) so for the first time I noticed the music. It is truly aweful and would be intolerable even in an elevator. I would have preferred to listen to the football (soccer) commentary from the TV and I am not a football fan. Don’t like TVs in restaurants either.
