Acapulco contians two main bays, Puerto Marques and the Bay of Santa Lucia (Acapulco Bay) and is surrounded by the Sierra Madre del Sur mountians.
Acapulco's Bay measures 3 miles (5 km) east to west and about 2 miles (3 km) north to south.
Acapulco is about 1,169 sraure miles (1,883 square km) in size which represent almost 3% of the sufrace of the territory of the state of Guerrero.
The official polulation of Acapulco, as measured by the INEGI census in 2000 is 620,656, though this is almost certianly an undercount.
