What I enjoy most about my task as Restaurant Critic is tearing places to pieces,
being brutal, even insulting… But when it comes to La Jaiba Locca I just cannot.
THE best seafood in Acapulco. I do not say this lightly because I want to get
a table when I go there and it is already getting a bit too popular. It's a lunch
place, as most fish places seem to be, but you can still get served till about
8:00. Nobody makes sauces like the ones you can find here. The poblano sauce is
wonderful. Try the filete a la diabla… you might find it a bit spicy
but my mouth is watering at the very thought.
I love perceves (goose necked barnacles) and almejas (clams) and these can usually
be found there too. Try them … the barnacles don't look appetizing but they are
delicious. To tell the truth, there isn't much on the menu that can't be found
elsewhere; but the quality and flavour are simply second to none. So don't go
to La Jaiba Locca … in case I want to go and can't get in.
