| New West Bar - Bars in Acapulco |
New West BarThis bar is an Acapulco anomaly. It's a Mexican
Norteņo-style bar (which are sort of comparable to a country Western bar in the
U.S.) complete with sawdust on the floor, rodeos on the video screen, and and a
good selection of folks in jeans and cowboy hats. Cowboy hats and pickups are
very popular up in the Northern Mexican deserts which has a lot in common with
Texas and the American West, but not at all so here in Acapulco so this place
really stands out.
The place is smallish but does have the feel of a
typical Northern Mexican dive bar. I heard there was a mechanical bull here, but
doesn't didn't seem one anymore. In a place this small I'm assuming it
would be hard to miss so I'm assuming they got rid of it. The bar has a
lively, friendly atmosphere and plays Banda music, which is the Mexican version
of country - sort of image a Latin Polka and you've got it. New West is located
adjacent to the Hotel Midador and a stones throw from La Quebrada. No cover,
beers are about $2.50 U.S. All good, especially if you own a
pickup.
