Ecotourism in Acapulco, MexicoEcotourism, at its roots, is all about our desire as creatures of the man-made world to go out and see what nature is actually like. It's also about trying to preserve it.
The International Society of Ecotourism defines ecotourism as "responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people."
This means that you should try to enjoy the natural environment while trying to minimize your impact on it. Also this means that you should try to be good stewards of the earth and respectful local populations. At the very least, you should avoid trampling plants and throwing garbage on the ground (like many the "local populations" themselves all too often seem to do without hesitation).
Acapulco is a great place to take in the beauty of the tropics and there is no shortage of places you can go to pass a relaxing moment or two out in God's creation where an exotic flora and fauna can be found along Acapulco's many jungles, mountains, lagoons and virgin beaches.
Here are some good options, but if you're creative, just rent a car and drive out until paved roads give way to dirt roads and where the people don't seem to have much need for shoes.
