Acapulco Movie Theaters

The theaters in Acapulco are modern and generally quite impressive. The selection is generally poor. This is not a uniquely Acapulco phenomenon, but pretty much the case throughout Mexico where American "blockbusters" (read: heavily promoted garbage) mingle with mostly lame national offerings.

T he theaters themselves are every bit as modern as their American counterparts, but the shabby old 20 peso theaters where the seats are sticky, the theater sweaty, the projector breaks down prompting yelling from the audience, and of course the customary intermission set to banda music are sorely missed in Acapulco.

The best place to see a film is without question the Cinépolis VIP at the Galerías Diana. The theater boasts lazy boy style recliners with lots of leg room, waiters and menus from which you can order sushi and wine as well as popcorn and a 7up.

There are four Cinépolis locations in Acapulco.

Galerías Diana - (484 80 70 or 484 15 11) Costera Miguel Alemán No.1926, Frac. Magallanes, Acapulco

La Gran Plaza - (486 43 56) Costera Miguel Alemán No.1632, Esq. Wilfrido Masseiu, Acapulco

Pie de la Cuesta - (482 18 81 or 483 22 91) Calzada Pie de la Cuesta 239 L90, Col. Hogar Moderno, Acapulco

Renacimiento - (403 76 00 or 403 76 01) Calle Catorce I. 718, S. II, Col. Emiliano Zapata, Acapulco

There is one Cimemark in Acapulco, located in the Oceanic 2000 complex.

8 Oceanic 2000 - (481 16 63) Costera Miguel Alemán No.3331, Costa Azul

There is one MMCinemas in Acapulco, though I swear I've never seen it.

MMC Acapulco - (486 82 50) Diego Hurtado de Mendoza 809, Frac. Hornos, Acapulco
