| Book Stores in Acapulco, Mexico |
Book Stores in Acapulco, MexicoOn of my biggest complaints about Acapulco is the almost total lack of bookstores. By bookstores, I mean places that you can browse isle after isle full of books. There aren't any really and I understand why. Mexicans, and especially Acapulqueños, are not big readers. Just take a look around any airport in Mexico and I bet there will be more foreigners with books and magazines in their hands than Mexicans despite being out numbered 10 to 1.
(This is one of my favorite armchair statistical games I like to play in airports when I'm tired of my boring old books and magazines.. when in the airport, I can almost guess a nation's per capita income by the percentage of people reading in waiting area for flight to that country.)
Anyhow, if you're in Acapulco, there are only a few options where you'll find an even modest selection of books and fewer places still where you'll find any selection of English language books.
Sandborn's and VIPs have magazine/book areas with a pretty good selection of magazines and a few rows of books.
Fuerte de San Diego has a small, put good selection of literature in it's little store.
I'm going to continue investigating this critical issue because I'm a big reader and used to be able to devour a book every day or two until I moved to Acapulco. Now I just write websites all day.
