Los Flamingos has been my getaway for some 40 years.The reason for this? It's a slice of Heaven on Earth. For relaxation, fun, sunsets, good food and great hosts, nowhere else on Earth have I found such a pied-a-terre. Besides, one can boast of showering in John Wayne's shower or swimming in Tarzan's pool. You are perched high above the Pacific on great cliffs, the rooms run along the hilltop through manicured gardens of animal shaped shurbbery. Ask for anything you need- nachos by the pool, the best margaritas at sunset-oh, I'm homesick. Thursdays are pozole night-not to be missed. There is music, dancing and mescal to accompany this tradition. I'd say that this hotel is for people with wanderlust in their hearts. It's old Hollywood,it's funky and cool. It's away from the tourist side of town-over by the cliff divers. Call Adolfo and tell him Diana sent you. |
