Su Casa started out in 1971 as a private home, but its location on top of a steep hill in Costa Azul, overlooking Acapulco's bay, made it the ideal setting for a fine dining restaurant. Owners Angel and Shelly Herrera started Su Casa in 1982 and remain the restaurant's managers and principal chefs. Looking up on the hill above the Convention Center from the Costera, it is easy to spot the restaurant. Su Casa is the hot pink building. In 2000 the owners inaugurated an elevator to save patrons the 47-stair walk up to the main terrace decks. Surrounding this lookout is tropical landscaping, which creates a really unforgettable context for drinks to toast the sunset followed by a delicious meal. The margaritas of Su Casa are famous, and should not be missed. Guests have a choice between the American-Mexican menu or the Continental menu. Everything from delicate seafood flavors to hearty barbecued ribs are options. Meals are accompanied by home made garlic bread and salad. Su Casa is also renowned for its deserts, including a frozen cheesecake unmatched elsewhere. Some menu items are always available, while others rotate through. Well-known choices include shrimp a la patrona (in a garlic sauce); grilled fish talla-style or costeño (in green mole), and filet al madrazo (a skewer of beef in a tropical juice marinade). Homemade barbecue sauce accompanies the ribs and chicken.
