Tacos Tumbras

Tacos Tumbras is regarded by many locals as the best place in town for tacos and other traditional Mexican dishes. The large, open air restaurant is on the inland side of the Costera Alemán, across from the Salón Q and Oceanic 2000 in Costa Azul. You can choose to eat right there, or order take-out. Tacos Tumbras also has home delivery. The service is friendly, and the atmosphere is festive, especially late at night and in the early morning hours, when the dance club crowd comes in for a late meal.

Pizza Real

Pizza Real stands apart from other places in that it bakes all its pizzas in large, clay ovens. A hungry patron can satisfy a craving for the traditional pizza types, like Margarita (cheese and basil with a little oil), pepperoni or Hawaiian (ham and pineapple).

Taco House

For those with a yen for fish or shrimp tacos, the Taco House in Icacos (the neighborhood of Wal-Mart and the Hyatt) is a great place to go. A local favorite is spicy octopus. Tacos House offers more than seafood tacos. A guest can also order traditional "tacos al pastor" (pork) and beef tacos with different mixtures for the filling. The beer is always very cold. The decoration of the small place is urban, with graffiti. Rock music is played over the sound system. An open-air terrace overlooking the Costera is an option.

Pollo Giro

Literally, "Pollo Giro" is a chicken being barbecued Sonoran style over charcoal on a spit. The Pollo Giro serves this delicacy with roasted small onions and hand-tossed tortillas with a complete range of sauces from savory to spicy. Northern dishes like quesadillas and chilorio (chilis and meat) are also local favorites. Try the home made root beer from Sonora state. The restaurant has a view of the ocean, parking, and a play area for the kids.

California Restaurants
