Guide to Thai popular restaurants in Acapulco, Mexico.
W Café is Woolworth's entrant in the economical café segment of
Acapulco restaurants, sharing the category with Vips, El Portón, Toks,
and others. Located on the inland side of the Costera just a block east of Gran
Plaza (heading away from downtown), W Café offers buffet meals at very
reasonable prices as well as a full menu of meals and snacks. Alcoholic beverages
are also served. Many people stop in just for a coffee and a pastry.

Ave Costera Miguel Aleman No 2310,
Tacos Tumbras is regarded by many locals as the best place in town for tacos and
other traditional Mexican dishes. The large, open air restaurant is on the inland
side of the Costera Alemán, across from the Salón Q and Oceanic 2000 in Costa
Azul. You can choose to eat right there, or order take-out. Tacos Tumbras also
has home delivery. The service is friendly, and the atmosphere is festive, especially
late at night and in the early morning hours, when the dance club crowd comes
in for a late meal.
Pizza Real stands apart from other places in that it bakes all its pizzas in large,
clay ovens. A hungry patron can satisfy a craving for the traditional pizza types,
like Margarita (cheese and basil with a little oil), pepperoni or Hawaiian (ham
and pineapple).
For those with a yen for fish or shrimp tacos, the Taco House in Icacos (the neighborhood
of Wal-Mart and the Hyatt) is a great place to go. A local favorite is spicy octopus.
Tacos House offers more than seafood tacos. A guest can also order traditional
"tacos al pastor" (pork) and beef tacos with different mixtures for the filling.
The beer is always very cold. The decoration of the small place is urban, with
graffiti. Rock music is played over the sound system. An open-air terrace overlooking
the Costera is an option.
Literally, "Pollo Giro" is a chicken being barbecued Sonoran style over charcoal
on a spit. The Pollo Giro serves this delicacy with roasted small onions and hand-tossed
tortillas with a complete range of sauces from savory to spicy. Northern dishes
like quesadillas and chilorio (chilis and meat) are also local favorites. Try
the home made root beer from Sonora state. The restaurant has a view of the ocean,
parking, and a play area for the kids.
There are actually three California Restaurants on the Costera Miguel Alemán in
Acapulco: one in Hornos between the Hotel Acabay and the Aurrerá grocery store,
one in Plazas Bahía, near the Crowne Plaza, and one in Costa Azul, in the One
Hotel. Restaurantes California is a Mexico-based chain of American-style restaurants,
which serve three meals per day, buffet style, with an emphasis on value for the

the well-known Shakey's brand pizzas and parties in the play area for the kids. This location in Costa Azul also has a couple of pizza combinations with a Mexican flair.
Sanborns is a well-known Mexican chain of upscale cafés, which has fully arrived
in the Internet era without losing any of its elegance. Acapulco has three Sanborns
- one in downtown near the Zócalo, another in the Calinda Beach Hotel in the Club
Deportivo area, and one in Costa Azul in the Oceanic 2000 building. Sanborns combines
an upscale gift shop, bookstore and pharmacy with an elegant coffee shop and restaurant
for friends to gather or shoppers to take a rest over coffee or tea. The facilities
are comfortable and air-conditioned, and wireless Internet access is available.
Acapulco has seven of these franchise restaurants, from the Zócalo to Punta Diamante.
Six of them are on the Costera Alemán (Centro, Zócalo, Hornos, Magallanes, Condesa
& Costa Azul). 100% Natural is a change of pace: it focuses on light, nutritious
and healthy food.
