Travel & Leisure Magazine named the Fairmont as Acapulco’s best hotel in 2007. The Fairmont Pierre Marques is a luxury resort on the “Diamond Coast” just east and south of Acapulco Bay. Before becoming the 229-room Fairmont Pierre Marques, this property was a retreat belonging to billionaire J. Paul Getty. It is really a cluster of villas and cottages set within in a lush, tropical landscape It has three large pools. The famous Revolcadero Beach lies just outside. The hotel maintains cabañas there and provides beach service. A championship golf course meanders through the estate. A sister property, the Fairmont Acapulco Princess, is virtually next door, and a frequent shuttle allows guests to take advantage of all the amenities of both resort hotels.

Hotel Information

Services & Amenities: 

Guest Services include all the expected amenities of a fine hotel, including a bell staff, a concierge staff, housekeeping twice a day, valet service (laundry, dry cleaning, pressing, shoes), room service and parking. Several shops are available for gifts, sundries, groceries and souvenirs. Babysitting can be arranged through the concierge. The concierge will also handle all arrangements and reservations for activities, both on the premises and off-site. A travel desk is available to handle all transportation requests, including car and jeep rentals, as well as air reservations and confirmations. Business services are available from the front desk, including printing, clerical support and translations. High-speed Internet access is available in all guest rooms, the meeting and conference facilities and the Bar Pierre (fees apply).

A shuttle van can provide transport to the airport or bus terminal (fees apply). Taxis are available outside the hotel reception area. On-site parking is available (fees apply), but valet parking service is provided without additional charges.

Rooms: 

The Fairmont Pierre Marques offers its 229 rooms and suites in several categories, according to size, view and type of building. Some overlook the ocean while others look out into the tropical gardens of the property. “Deluxe” rooms are in the hotel wing of the main building, with a private balcony (1 king size bed or two double beds). “Fairmont" rooms are in the tower building, each with a private balcony or terrace. The rooms are a bit smaller than those in the hotel wing, but offer a choice of king-size or two double beds. All rooms have climate-control air conditioning, cable TV, in-room safe, a work area and a direct dial telephone with voice mail, ironing board and iron and hair dryer. Additional amenities (fees apply) include high-speed Internet access, refrigerator, and cribs or rollaway beds. The bungalows (garden view or ocean view) offer a private patio and plunge pool, large bedroom and spacious bath with dressing area, and a separate living/dining area with powder room. They have a king-size bed. Ocean view bungalows do not accept children. The suites range from a studio apartment with separate sleeping and living areas and a garden view, up to a spacious and private villa. Some categories do not accept children.

Dining & Drinks: 

Bar Pierre has striking views from its terrace and a friendly, inviting, air conditioned interior. Light food is served in addition to cocktails, mixed drinks of all kinds, wine and beer. Many guests repair to the Bar Pierre to watch the setting sun. (Daily, 10a-1a).

Guests enjoy going to the Tabachin Bar for its collection of fine tequilas, The area's largest. The elegant ambiance is perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail or an after-dinner liqueur. (Daily, 7p-112a).

The Terraza Bar adjoins the Terraza Restaurant by the main pool and provides a relaxed atmosphere for beverages and light food, day or night.

Tabachin Restaurant. The Tabachin has received the Four Diamond Award from AAA. It serves a modern fusion of Asian and French cuisine, accented with gourmet touches from the Mexican taste palate. (Daily, 7p to midnight.)

The Terraza Restaurant serves both American and Mexican traditional cuisine in a natural ambiance, overlooking the Pacific and the resort's main pool. It operates every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Pierre's Café & Delicatessen offers world-class baked goods, wines, cheeses, meats, gourmet foods of all kinds. Salads and sandwiches can be eaten right there or taken out. Mexican handicrafts and souvenirs are also on sale. The café is open 24 hours a day.

Activities: 

Children's Activities include a supervised program, offered seven days a week from10a to 6p. It includes playground activities, sports, including water activities, songs, games and videos. Adults can enjoy the pools, bars and restaurants, the Willow Stream Spa, the exercise facility, as well as tennis and golf. Off-site excursions for sight-seeing and shopping are easily arranged through the concierge desk.

Health & Beauty: 

At the neighboring Fairmont Acapulco Princess (a short shuttle ride away) the hotel offers its Willow Stream Spa, a full-service, state-of-the-art facility offering massages, facials and body treatments in a luxurious, relaxing atmosphere. The Spa also offers hydrotherapy (steam, sauna, Jacuzzi) and couples massage suites. A beauty salon is adjunct to the Willow Stream Spa. Guests are also invited to take advantage of the modern fitness centers at the Fairmont hotels. They have stationary bikes, stair climbers, Nautilus brand resistance equipment, free weights and TV monitors. A sauna is also available next to each center (Daily 7 am-10 pm).

Golf: 

The Fairmont Pierre Marques operated an 18-hole championship course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., which has been closed to make room for the "Country Club at Tortuga Dunes," set to open in December of 2010. Meanwhile, guests are invited to go to the nearby course at the sister hotel, the Fairmont Acapulco Princess.

Tennis: 

Several tennis courts are available through the concierge desk.

Meetings & Conventions: 

The Fairmont has meeting rooms and a boardroom for smaller meetings and conferences, as well as function space (including the ballroom) for up to 500 persons (17,400 square feet). Outdoors in the areas of the pools and gardens, the hotel can handle groups up to 1,000. Meeting rooms are fully outfitted with audiovisual equipment, high speed Internet, and telecommunications facilities. After the meeting, the pools, bars, restaurants, golf course, spa, exercise facilities and tennis courts are all at the disposal of the attendees.

Pools: 

The outdoor pools at the Fairmont Pierre Marques are named after the indigenous peoples of Mexico: The Maya Pool and the Olmeca Pool have swim-up bars, an Acapulco invention. The Mixteca Pool and the Tolteca Pool are provided for quiet sunbathing, relaxation and cooling off. The Azteca Pool is a large, saltwater facility with a waterslide for the kids.

Weddings: 

The Fairmont Pierre Marques can combine the celebration of the wedding with a romantic honeymoon in Acapulco. Wedding planners on-staff can take care of all the arrangements for the wedding, the reception and banquet, as well as other entertainment and lodging for the guests and family. Transportation, decorations, music and flowers can be included in the hotel's wedding packages. Catering chefs will prepare menus based on contemporary international cuisine or traditional Mexican dishes. The hotel even has thought of arranging for professional hair stylists and make-up artists. The newlyweds can enjoy their honeymoon in an ocean view bungalow, with breakfast in the room, spa treatments (including an afternoon in the Willow Stream Spa’s “couples suite”), walks along the beach, and relaxation by the pools, and sensational restaurants. Guests should inquire about the Fairmont’s “Platinum Honeymoon Program.”
