The Parador del Sol Acapulco is an all-inclusive resort on the Pacific Coast of Mexico, just west and north of Acapulco. It is owned and operated by Qualton Club, a Mexican chain of resort hotels well-known for all-inclusive hospitality.

Single story white villas are distributed around the 25-acre property, between the lagoon of Coyuca and the Pacific Ocean. They are in a natural setting, with tropical vegetation, the beach and the sea right outside the door. The resort is on a point of land at Pie de la Cuesta, a renowned beach famous for its grand waves and spectacular Pacific sunsets. Parador del Sol is less than a half-hour’s drive from downtown Acapulco, and a bit over one hour from the airport, which lies on the other side of Acapulco Bay. All meals, snacks, drinks, activities, entertainment and (non-motorized) water sports, tips and taxes are included in the daily rate. The facilities and service are rated as first-rate – a great place to spend a family vacation.

Rooms:

The hotel renovated a number of its villas in 2004 so they have modern appointments and amenities. Each of the 150 villa-like rooms is set in a tropical garden context, with a private terrace that looks out into a tropical garden, the Coyuca Lagoon or the open sea. Each terrace has a fan, a chaise and a hammock, for the ultimate in rest and relaxation. A crib or rollaway can be arranged.

Dining & Drinks:

The Parador del Sol Acapulco provides guests with two restaurants and three bars. The Amate Bar is set to overlook the mangroves and reeds of the Coyuca lagoon. It provides a great background for quiet conversation. The Bucanero Bar and the Lobby Bar are lively gathering places. Live music is often provided in the Lobby Bar. National brands are free, but imported brands can be called (for a surcharge). The Villalinda Restaurant is a buffet restaurant, which is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is a mix of international and traditional Mexican cuisine, introducing foreign travelers to tamales and grilled huachinango (red snapper) in a spicy red sauce. At La Fiesta Restaurant guests can have lunch or dinner throughout the afternoon and into the evening, specializing in lighter fare such as burgers, sandwiches and snacks.

Activities:

The days are filled with sports or relaxation, taking advantage of the sun and sea all around. The pool is perhaps the center for the relaxation activities, with a bar close at hand and lots of chaises and parasols for sunbathing and reading. An area is provided with hammocks, in sun or shade. On the beach the hotel puts out chairs, loungers and beach umbrellas. The children’s pool is large and inviting for kids to play. The staff will also organize special activities for the children and sometimes interesting programs for adults (like bartending, crafts or cooking). An exercise center with all the latest equipment is provided. In addition, guests can choose to go to the sports center to play tennis on one of four courts, or ping pong on the tables provided, volleyball, soccer or nine holes of mini-golf. Mountain bikes are available for rent. The staff will sometimes organize games and activities by the pool, including water aerobics. In the category of non-motorized water sports, the resort offers wind-surfing, canoes and kayaks, paddle boats and boogie boards. The Water Sports Center can also arrange for motorized water sports (such as water-skiing and jet-skis). (Additional fees apply.)

At night, the hotel’s recreation team provides family entertainment. There is also a discothèque (dance club), and an open-air theater. The hotel also offers a game room, including a pool table, and TV room for guests.

The activities desk can also help guests organize outings to points of interest in Acapulco, such as the cliff divers of La Quebrada, the historic Fort of San Diego, the Cici Water Park, shopping, and fine-dining.

The hotel can make special arrangements for groups, particularly business gatherings that mix the rest and relaxation of the resort with meeting or training sessions in their conference facilities.
