The Elcano is named for Spanish Navigator Juan Sebastian Elcano, who completed Magellan’s historic first circumnavigation of the globe. This traditional, deluxe Acapulco Hotel has a long tradition of elegance and hospitality. Just off the Costera Alemán in Acapulco's "Golden Zone," the Elcano has one of the premier stretches of beach along Acapulco Bay. The hotel has been landscaped with greenery everywhere, and decorated in a modern, blue and white decor.

Services & Amenities: 

Guests need not leave the building if they choose to stay and enjoy the pool or the beach. The hotel has a beauty salon, travel agency, a boutique, and a gift shop. A game and video room is provided as well. Services include housekeeping and laundry/dry cleaning, full time medical service on call, babysitting services, a full tour and activities desk, on-site car rental, and an exercise facility. Business services (such as fax) are available at a business center. Clerical support and translation services can be arranged at the business center. Parking is free.

Rooms: 

The Elcano offers guests 180 suites on ten floors. The smallest is the “studio,” which is a large hotel room with a separate area for living and dining. All have great view of Acapulco Bay, and most have private balconies. The décor is bright and cheerful. Amenities include air conditioning and ceiling fan, cable TV, direct dial phone and voice mail, purified water, a mini-bar, in-room safe and hair dryer. Suites up to two bedrooms are available.

Dining & Drinks: 

Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in an informal atmosphere. The menu is local Mexican and Spanish. (daily, 7a-11p). El Faro is the fine dining option at the Elcano (daily, 1p-1a). A coffee shop is also operated for the convenience of guests.

El Timón Lobby Bar is the home of the Trio Los Bachilleres, which entertains there daily. The bar is open from 5 p to midnight. The Bambuco Bar, found in the area of the pool, offers seafood snacks and appetizers as well as a full drink menu. The elegant bar of the El Faro is the best location for celebrations and for relaxing aprés-diner drinks.

Health & Beauty: 

The hotel provides an exercise facility to guests, and there is a beauty salon.

Golf: 

Through the concierge guests have access to the Acapulco Golf Club, which is virtually across the street from the hotel. It is a challenging and well-maintained nine-hole course.

Shopping: 

The Elcano is centrally located, with several shopping malls within a short taxi ride.

Meetings & Conventions: 

Meeting and conference facilities are available, with full planning support and catering.

Pools: 

The Elcano’s main pool is laid out for relaxing sunbathing and visiting at the poolside. It is surrounded by four whirlpool hot tubs. Kids will enjoy the separate children’s pool. There is a bar and snack bar by the pool.

• Non-smoking rooms are available.
• Rates do not include 17% tax.
• Maximum occupancy: three adults per room. Up to two children under 12 can stay with their parents for free in the same room.
