The Department of Promotion and Special Projects of the municipal government has announced the coming Third Festival of the Nao de China. The "Nao de China" was one of the most famous Spanish galleons that linked trade between Europe and Asia via the port of Acapulco in the 16th through 18th centuries. Acapulco's role in world commerce and as a hub for trade is emphasized in the Festival of the Nao, now in its third year. During the first week of November, artists, athletes and entertainers from several countries will gather in Acapulco for a series of special events. This year, events will take place not only in Acapulco's traditional zone, but also in at the Convention Center in Costa Azul and on the Punta Diamante side as well. The final program has not yet been announced.
