El Olvido is somewhat tucked away in the Plaza Marbella just off the Diana circle
of the Costera. Mediterranean décor, romantic setting, and modern cuisine are the main features of this upscale restaurant. El Olvido offers a modern fusion of cuisines, but in this case
it is French with Mexican. An example is the red snapper (huachinango) dressed
in a sauce made of butter and a combination of citrus juices. The bar has a special
menu of different unusual cocktails, to start off the evening. Salads of different
kinds (including octopus) are offered, some with exotic dressings (like mango).
Cold avocado soup and hot black bean and chorizo soup are also favorite starters.
Examples of the entrées are chipotle lamb chops, sea bass in cilantro-avocado
sauce, and quail in honey and chilis. Tropical deserts top off the experience.
The restaurant serves on a terrace overlooking the beach and the bay, where guests
dine by the light of candles and the stars. Dining early has a benefit, as the
beach can be noisy later on, especially during high season.
